I use a RoadAngel 7000 with memory Map, waterproof and has a mp3 player but no
radio. Outside your target price range though.

Yes but not when cycling, definitely not when cycling :) One of the joys of
cycling is peace and quite, last thing I'd want is the cacophony that is
broadcast by most radio stations blasting in my ear :)

he would prob prefer an mp3 player to a radio.
how about I remove the requirement of mp3/radio player
(since he is willing to have an mp3 player in one ear and the GPS
headphones in the other ear!)
so, just a waterproof GPS (single unit) <=3D =A3180, preferably <=3D =A3120=
?

But he doesn't listen to the radio while cycling, surely. That would be
stupid.

Why doesn't he look for something that has Bluetooth, a PictureViewer, a
camera, satellite launch control, electric toothbrush, and earwax
remover built in?

Do you need SatNav (ie turn-by-turn navigation)? Or just GPS to record
tracks/follow routes and waypoints etc etc.
If it is the latter, there are several Java applications available that will
run on a fairly basic phone with a bluetooth GPS attachment.
The best of these I have found is TrackMyJourney (www.trackmyjourney.com).
It shows position, records tracks, lets you follow routes (by following a
line on a map, not with turn-by-turn directions). IMO a neat piece of
(free!) software that may be worth checking out...??
