I like the spec of the 740 go live, but feel the live part (subscription) is
not for me. Is there a cheaper or earlier model with the same spec, but
without the live, mainly looking for voice commands as disabled,

Try looking at http://www.find-satnav-deals.co.uk/new_models to get a view
on the cost of other models. You'd need to double check the spec, but as
mentioned on this site cheaper, refurbished models such as the 730 & 930 can
be found at TotalPDA.
