I am thinking about upgrading from using PocketPCs to a UMPC - the prices of
some of the lower end models are about the same as higher end PPC's. The
only problem is that I am not sure to use as a Satnav application (as a
replacement for TT6). Any suggestions?
The one current problem with UMPC is their display, all the ones I have
seen have an 800 x 480 screen resolution. This causes problmes with
many of the PC satnav applications available.
Another issue is there are relatively few decent navigation apps
suitable for PC.

Thanks Darren, that sounds pretty definitive.
Do you know whether TomTom might plan to port their software to the PC/UMPC?
I can't think why they haven't done it already

They ported their software to various platforms, but haven't updated
it in many years, it's now two generations behind their dedicated
units so I suspect they're concentrating on making dedicated hardware
as it's hard to download that via p2p! Darren mentioned before that
they appear to be going to release a phone of their own with built-in
satnav, which seems like a really terribly thick thing to do. If they
do, that'll kill off their software-only line for sure.
