I ordered a Tomtom ONE battery from Ebay, I expected it to come from Leeds,
but it came from Hong Kong
in less than a week.

A tool was included to open the Tomtom but this is wrong, they have supplied
what looks like a Torx screwdriver
it says T5 on the blade. My original Tomtom has much larger screws with a
pin in the centre which would need a corresponding hole in the tool.

I suspect the tool is for the ONE V2, can someone tell me if that sounds
plausible?
Also the battery itself is a CS-TM500XL, is that for the V2 only or the
original
ONE, or will it fit both?

The Tomtom One V2 does require a torx bit to undue the case. If you still
have a problem of not being able to open the case you could try getting a
set of security screwdriver bits from Maplins electronics shops that come
with bit suitable for both torx (star) and hexagon with a recess for the pin
in the middle of the screw.

But if the screwdriver in the kit with the battery is for the V2, will the
battery be suitable for the original Tomtom One?

Hope that helps.

No it's not.
Here is another from the same seller 130149834975
exactly what I bought. Must be a V2 only, do you
think it is misleading?

Anyway, I got a set of security bits from Screwfix.
The 5/64in hex with hole fitted OK and I have
repaired a dry soldered joint on the power socket.
I took some pictures, I will put them on the Web
when I get time.
