Regarding the Tomtom 910 speaking the street names ? does it say for example
turn left into Oxford Street and then turn right into Regent Street or does
it say the A123 etc.

It certainly always gives the Regent Street name. There may be places
where is also adds the route number but I don't recall any of those.

It's a mixture, where a route is only known by number then it will use
that i.e Turn left onto B3000, otherwise it will use the name.

Speaking street names uses a technology called Text to Speech (TTS) and
from TomTom only their 910 presently has TTS, but this same feature is
also available in certain models by other GPS equipment manufacturers.
