I am thinking of buying a TomTom One GB from Amazon as they are £114 at the
moment (512mb internal mem). However, they are doing the Europe version for
the same price (1gb internal mem). Its unlikely I will be travelling in
Europe, but tempted to get it as its the same price. All that concerns me
is, when I am doing searches for UK locations (when postcode is unknown)
will the menus be clogged up with foreign towns too? I had this on a TomTom
910 I used for a week and it was a nuisance scrolling through all the towns.
Perhaps I was using it wrong, but when trying to enter a UK town, it would
keep giving me foreign towns in the same list.

Can the europe maps be switched off? If not I'll go for the GB version.

On mine it does. I'd still get it anyway as the larger memory will=20
allow the addition of more POI's etc.

I will probably buy the europe version from Amazon tomorrow. Oddly its gone
down one penny this morning to £113.99. I'm not keen on the internal memory
on the TomTom One V3, but I can't see any major drawbacks. I did read
reports the external memory cards can sometimes glitch where they contact
and freeze the machine, so possibly TomTom did this rather than fix the
problem.
