If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
Updated the application software to 7.162 on my brother's TomTom XL. Since
then, it will not switch on - unless it is:
a) Connected to the power, or
b) The SD card is removed completely or removed then re-inserted
I have the battery saving preferences set to 'never turn of' & 'switch off
when external power is lost' is disabled. The start up preference is also
set to 'continue where I left off'
Any ideas what might be causing this, or is it a known bug?

Same here (sometimes) except it is only releasing/reinserting the SD card
that clears it.
I have been assuming that some crap had made the card's connections less
than perfect.
Last month I traced a power cable problem to water having got to the lead.

Was this since updating to the 7.xxx version? If so, it would appear to be

a bug.
I've e-mailed TomTom but I'm not expecting much...

Must say, I really didn't notice whether the one coincided with the other.
