I'm trying to decide whether to buy a TomTom 720T now or to wait for the
920T. The main appeal of a 920T for me is the included RDS-TMC receiver.
However from what I read on the web, most users who have bought an RDS-
TMC receiver as an add-on actually hate it because it involves
stretching a wire antenna across the windscreen and then it totally
fails to find a useful signal.

Does anyone know if the RDS-TMC receiver included with the 920T will be
radically different? If not, I think I'll save time and money and buy a
720T.

The TMC antenna is the exact same device. The good news is the latest
incarnation is much better at actually tuning in to a valid TMC signal.
It does still necessitate a wire strung across the dash but this can
be achived relatively tidily.

Thanks, now I know.

I assume that the wire has to be removed when the car is parked in a
public place so that the scrotes don't conclude that there's a TomTom in
the glove box, and then it has to be replaced for next use.

Plan B is to do a few experiments to see exactly how much Bluetooth
would shorten the battery life on my mobile.

I've manged to secure my antenna such that it wouldn't attract to much
attention. If you had to remove it each time it would become very
tiresome.
