I got a navigator 7000 from Ebay and loaded the maps and software for Memory
Map. Great so far but need some advice:

It creates an automatic 'trail' when you are out and about but this would
appear limited to a maximum of 4000 points.

1. Is it possible to increase the number of points (there is no way to edit
this on the Road Angel)?

2. I wonder how the Road Angel 'decides' when to create a point on a track?
Is this based on time interval, or distance, or both and what are the
values? (as I can be walking for up to 6 hours I need to ensure all the
track can be logged).

3. How can the trail be downloaded to save on a computer (basically what is
the file name)?

4. How to save the 'trail' if there are no satellites available (i.e.
indoors) as the save menu only appears when exiting the Memory Map facility
if there are sats available. Switching off the unit loses data if not saved.

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of.

It records a point every 10 secs, so 4000 points gives about 11 hours. You can
of course have multiple tracks.

When you have the RA7000 connected via Active Sync, in Memory Map on the PC use:
Mobile Device > Import Data From Device.

Are you talking about Routes (blue) or Tracks (red) ? Always exit Memory Map
first, this will autosave. Don't switch the unit off with with rear switch. I
always just suspend mine.

Hi

Its tracks (red). I had a look on the SD card but couldn't work out what
file the track would be stored on.

I ordered a booster pack for it for £21 which triples the capacity and is
rechargeable so I should be OK to use the screen quite a lot on walks.
Speaking of which I also posted about 'glare proof' film to stick on the
screen, if you have any advice?

The only difference between the Adventurer and navigator is supposed to be
the software, but I find after following the instructions to load memory map
on a new SD card, the road navigation aspect will not work as the error
message comes up 'No metro area installed. Please install at least one metro
area' when selecting the NAV function. You have to install the original SD
card which is a bit of a faff!

I have requested approval to use the Memory Map forum so hope to get some
answers there but can't beat asking someone who might know from experience.

I find my Medion satnav is better for road navigation in my job as a
surveyor as it has 'select on map' facility which is great if you are
hopping around in a small area. The RA can only accept addresses or
postcodes which is not on when you visit up to 70 sites a day. But the RA
has great speed cam warnings and of course the Memory Map function is
fantastic for walkers, though I think it could be easily dropped due to the
shape.

Sorry should have said 'track', the red line it creates to record where you
have been.
