Hi all,

I'm looking for a pocket GPS which has maps for Europe, North America,
Australia and New Zealand. So far I've drawn a blank.

My experience of GPS is limited to basic Garmin units, so the whole map
thing is fairly new to me.

Can anyone advise as to whether I'm likely to find a device for which
all these maps are available? Any recommendations?

TIA

How about a Motorola A780?

see

Certainly covers EU and US.

Obviously with only about 3M adults (compared with >300M in both US & EU),
demand for NZ maps may be limited.

That does look nice - thanks. I'll take a look at one.

Yes, I'm beginning to see this.

Nice place to live though apart from the climate, earthquakes and
Calvinists*.

Scotland is nowadays more attractive on both fronts.

Pocket PC or Palm with third party software. Then you can easily upload
the maps of your choice. The decision about whoich software to buy
rather depends on your decisions about whether you want road following
or not, and if you want to use the device in car or for walking/cycling
etc.

I've used Garmin products with their MapSource CDs, basic mapping but
quite decent and a huge coverage of areas around the world. At present I
use an iPaq with a Fortuna "Clip On" bluetooth GPS which I reckon is
near perfect, software of your choice from TomTom, Fugawi, DeLuo and
many others.
