I recently acquired a Nikkai GPS dongle:

<http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=99314&doy=8m3>

for use, via Bluetooth, with my iPaq 3870. Eventually, I may buy mapping
software, but in the meantime I need an application which will read my
location from the dongle and return it as a latitude/ longitude pair.

Any suggestions (preferably free?)

It's not a 'dongle' it's a Bluetooth GPS receiver ;) Leadtek's Winfast
Navigator will do what you require. Available in the download area at
http://www.leadtek.com.tw .

Thank you.

I managed to find a copy, have installed it, and the dongle, er,
Bluetooth GPS receiver has fixed its position and is seen by the iPaq.

However, if I tell the Winfast software to "connect", it does nothing
but report "connect...".

Also, I can't seem to find any documentation... :-(

Ignore that; I'm connected now.

However:

1 - I can't find a way to stop the software "Pinging" every few
seconds.

2 - There doesn't seem to be any way to capture the lat/ long values
to the clipboard!

(I have Winfast Navigator 1.0.1)

This looks like version 1.3;
http://www.leadtek.com/eng/support/download.asp?license=y&downlineid=179&downline=LR9559X

Might be worth a try.
