Hi

Does anyone know of any cheap route planning software that will calculate
the most efficient route to / from several points.

In plain terms I would like to be able to put in a start point and possibly
an end point then have several stops en route. I would like the software to
place the stops in such a fashion that they are visited in the least
possible time rather than in the order I enter them.

I know there is software out there for delivery companies and the like but I
suspect it would be way too expensive for a single user.

Cheers

James

The latest version of MS Autoroute (2007) apparently has a facility to
calculate an optimised route - taking in multiple destinations.

AFAIK earlier versions on MS AutoRoute (2005, 2006) also did optimised
routes.

AR2004 definitely does, I just checked.

Enter the route stops, click the optimise button, then click the get
directions button. Seems to work well too.

Yes, you're right! I've just looked at my 2002 version, and discovered that
even *that* does it!

It is still true that the latest version does it - albeit not exclusively
so. <g>

I presume that if the OP wanted to buy something, he would go for the latest
version anyway. I don't know how he defines 'cheap', but Autoroute 2007 can
be bought for about UKP 50.
