Just recieved the latest TT Newsletter can't see any mention of the UK map
updates, so does this mean the promise of them this year as been false?

Look on their help pages, and links posted in a recent topic about this.

Yes have read the previous posts saying they have them on the WebSite, and
saw the offer there.
I even posted asking what the special code that could be entered when
purchasing was and about it, got no response.
But why not in this Newsletter???
Are the updated maps on the web site at present not the latest one we have
all been waiting for all year?
It is a very strange situation to me.

There are offer codes, which you will need to ask tomtom for, and
you'll get if you are eligible, I'd assume they're unique to each
voucher and user. Or it may be the product code, I have two
identifying the maps that are loaded into my machine.

Depends on what you already have installed, for me it's not worth
upgrading because mine are based on the latest teleatlas stuff that
tomtom have already.

I'd suggest you try contacting tomtom's support and see if they can
clarify things for you.

It seems quite clear to me already. My comments in CAPITALS. According
to the website:

TomTom Map Updates
Last year we offered our TomTom GO, NAVIGATOR and MOBILE customers the
opportunity to benefit from the Update Programme. From April/May until
November 2005 many of our TomTom product owners upgraded to the newest
application version and new street level maps.

Introducing a new map update program. Soon existing TomTom customers
will be able to purchase the latest maps.

THIS WORDING HAS APPEARED FOR MANY MONTHS REPLACING THE EARLIER
'STARTING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SECOND QUARTER' AND 'STARTING AT THE
BEGINNING OF THE THIRD QUARTER'. TOMTOM MUST HAVE SOME DIFFICULTY
UNDERSTANDING THE WORD SOON.

TomTom will inform all registered customers via the monthly newsletter
when the map update program starts. To receive your notification,
register via our website and sign up for your copy of the newsletter.
Register here for the TomTom Newsletter.

NOTIFICATION WILL BE VIA NEWSLETTER. WHAT IS THE POINT IN LOOKING
ELSEWHERE OR CONTACTING SUPPORT? CONTACTING COMPLAINTS WOULD HAVE
SOME LOGIC.

We recommend that you register on our website and sign up for our
newsletter. By this means we can directly inform you about our next
releases and updates.
Read also: Free updates, Map downloads

Note: If you have received a voucher with your TomTom stating you
would get a free upgrade to maps, we will honor this voucher and
communicate shortly our process here.

CLEARLY THE UPGRADE IS STILL NOT RELEASED OR THIS PARAGRAPH WOULD BE
REDUNDANT.

TomTom must take lessons on customer service from Michael O'Leary (of
Ryanair).
