I wish I could set my TomTom One to blank the screen on long journies when I
don't need to make a turn for 30 miles or so. I can't turn it off as will
loose the route and have to stop to re input my destination. It would be so
good if it could be set to blank the screen after a certain time (in the
same way as windows does with my computer) when there are no changes to
route needed for mile ater mile. Also the voice commands are ample for me
most of the time. I don't really need the display and it could save the
battery. At night I would certainly not want the display on dark motorways,
not even the night colours.

There is a 'turn map off above a certain speed' option. This replaces
the detailed map with a simplified diagram. I realise this is not
quite what you want but it may be less distracting than the full map.

Thanks for that. I am new to satnav as only got a TomTom One yesterday and
had not found that option yet. That could sort out my requirements as if I
set it to activate over 60 it will stay off (or simplified) while on long
stretches of motorway. Failing that, I'll have to throw a cloth over the
screen :-)

Thanks again

Mount it so it faces away or where you can't see the screen and only listen
to the prompts

Does yours really lose the destination, and if so which model is it?

Turning my GO Classic and GO 910 off does not lose routes, the TomToms pick
right up from I am (unless on an Itinerary and have passed a waypoint or an
intermediate destination while the unit was off, and even then there is a
catchup feature on the Itinerary screen to mark an already-passed point as
having been visited).
