Hi, newbie here.

I recently bought a NavMan F40 as I'm going to drive in France for a
week, 1st
week of August.

However, it's just died on me! When it's not got the charger attached,
it is
dead. When the charger is attached, it shows a static battery
symbol but still
doesn't turn on.

I really really need this to be working by the 31st July when I leave!
Can any
genius help please?!

Thanks
Steve

Could be the charger is not working besides satnav.

Does it have 2 chargers?
eg one for car use (try on alteranative socket if there is one)
Mains one

On my TT a green led lights when it's charging; does yours have
similar?

Have you checked there's not some battery freshness tab that needs
pulling out?

If you bought mail order you have a problem with timescales!!

How recently? If it's a matter of weeks or days then reject it as unfit
for purpose, get your money back and go buy something decent. Probably
Tom Tom or Garmin.

That hints that the charger is working, but that the internal battery
has failed or the charging circuit.

Choices:

Send it back, get a refund, buy another one if it really is "recent".
Use your Sale of Goods Act rights to claim that it's unfit for purpose.

March into the shop and demand an exchange unit.

Buy a map.
