Just got this today and haven't explored it fully, but very disappointed
with the "manual". Before I decided on this sat-nav I downloaded manuals
for some others and they are far more comprehensive. Any pointers to
sources of information on what it can do?

Regards and thanks in advance

Try http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/1512_SetupandGo!.pdf
I have just got a 760 and was initially disappointed in the manual
then I thought "good on them" not filling the box with a thick tome in
countless different languages that wasn't really needed as there is a
lot of help on the web site for anything that isn't intuiative.

Thanks for taking the time, but that link is just a copy of the manual
that's included in the box.

With my Garmin, I got eleven manuals covering most languages! The other
models I considered had more pages too:

Tom Tom 64 pages

Mio 86

Magellan 80

Navman 133

Maybe it just depends on whether you're a Manual type of person though. I
feel strongly that the modern practice of putting manuals on disc or making
them small, is a retrograde step.

Regards

A lot of people though don't bother with the manual though.
Personally, as long as the device is reasonably intuitive to use, I don't
bother with the manual at first. Sometimes a brief 'Getting Started' guide
is useful, but normally I'll enjoy just having a play around and sussing out
how it all works.
Once I'm up and running, then I'll load the manual from the CD and have a
flick through to see if there are any features I've missed, or if there are
better ways of doing things, but I certainly don't miss an inch thick
manual, of which 80% is of no use to me as it is written in various foreign
languages...

Having said that, I can fully understand that some people, especially those
less technical or computer literate(not that I'm implying the OP necessarily
falls into this category) might find CD based manuals inconvenient or
difficult to use, and I realise that some people just prefer paper and ink.
