It's been more than a month now since I ordered the CN Europe v9 update disk
from Garmin. To cut a long story short, the original order has still not
arrived, but after many phone calls, another disk arrived this morning from
Garmin (UK) (thanks Andrew, if you happen to read this)!

The only problem now is that being naturally pessimistic, I am not convinced
that the disk I have now been sent is the correct one for my gps unit (Garmin
StreetPilot 2610), and I don't want to pay for an unlock code and then find
the disk doesn't work (or worse screws up my StreetPilot). There are two
reasons why I am suspicious, firstly there is no actual mention of my
specific unit on the front cover. You can see a scan of it here:

http://web.mac.com/mike_lane/iWeb/Site/untitled%20album_files/slideshow.html

or here:

http://tinyurl.com/27tczw

Secondly the unlock procedure starts by asking you to confirm if,
"...you have the lastest version of City Navigator Europe v9 Delxue DVD"
(sic)
As you can see there is no mention of the word "Delxue" or even "Deluxe" and
anyway, how do I know if it's the "lastest version" or not?

Please, if anyone reading this has used a CN Europe v9 update disc to update
a 2610 from CN v8 to v9, could they compare the cover of their disc to mine
shown in the scan above, and let me know if there is any difference at all. I
would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, I meant to say

If you look at the product page for CN EUR V9 it lists all the
compatible models there. The 2610 is included, along with about 75
other models, so I don't know why they only mention the 2620/2660 on the
DVD insert.

None of the NT versions are compatible with the 2610 but it looks like
you have the right one. If they sent you the wrong one, they'll make it
right eventually.

I don't know what the deal is on the "deluxe" thing, I've never heard of
a deluxe version of any CN mapping. Probably just a typo or something.

Yes, well I hope you're right. My version is definitely not NT, but what I'd
like to be reassured about is that haven't been sent an old (possibly buggy)
version that happened to be lying around

I hope you're right but I can't help noticing that Garmin-speak always seems
to refer to Deluxe, or Delxue. For example the email confirming my original
order (over a month ago) says:

<quote>
Information about the Disk you ordered:
MapSource Product: City Navigator Europe v9 Delxue DVD
Version #: 9.00
Release Date: 9/1/2006
<unquote>

Anyway thanks for you reply, and I'll keep everyone posted about any
developments.

That is because the DVD can only be used for two things:
- upgrade the preloaded maps on the 2620/2660 (no use on any other
model, since you load your maps from Mapsource in that case)
- upgrade the maps on the PC to be used from Mapsource (for all other
Garmin models you have a v9 unlock code for, the 2610 and my Quest
included)

Deluxe is Garmin's way of saying "all regions included". I guess. =8-)
