About 3 weeks ago I had an email from Garmin telling me that the CN v9 update
for my SP 2610 was now available, so I immediately ordered the update dvd
from the Garmin website. Nothing has arrived as yet (7 - 10 working days they
said), so a week ago I contacted Garmin UK in Romsey, and spoke to a
seemingly helpful chap who promised to send me a copy of the dvd himself
straight away. Again nothing has arrived.

Has anyone actually received the update dvd, or have any information at all
about what's going on, I wonder?

Yes, that's about the same time I ordered mine. My problem is that I want to
start planning the route for a fairly long trip I'll be doing in a few weeks'
time. I don't want to start this before I update the maps.

I'll contact Garmin again tomorrow and see if I can get any more out of them.

Should be no problem to start planning the routes with the old maps
then open them with the new maps when you eventually get them
installed and recalculate the routes.

Well, yes, that's what I'll probably have to do. But I did the same last
year, and the problem is that the route is too long and complex to calculate
in one go (the unit runs out of memory), so I have to split it into several
separate routes, each of which has to be recalculated. I seem to remember
that when I did this before, a few little snags cropped up which took a
little time to sort out, so it was not all totally straightforward.
