Since updating to the latest software, my ttgc no longer switches on and off
when attached to the mount in the car - like it used to. Am I missing a
setting somewhere, or is this a feature I now have to live with ?

Updating seems to lose some of the customisation settings. Look in
preferences - battery saving... and reset the option. Also if you have
(had?)the GPS quickfix facility you may need to re-install it

"Battery Saving Preferences" -> "Switch off when external power is lost"
