maybe this is more a electronic problem than software but i am looking for
some suggestions.
i got a tomtom go 720 for over 2 years now and untill recently no problems.
I always leave it in the car ready to use but for the last few weeks i
havent used it and its been really freezing here since.
When i tried to start it up again i only got the tomtom logo and after a
few minutes a sign with a cross over wich i assume means no memory or
software.
at first i didnt panic since i got a recent backup.
Connecting it to the computer tomtom home doesnt start or recognise the
device when started up manually.
Using windows explorer it recognizes 2 external devices both with none or
no accesible memory .
I am afraid i got a total loss here .Further more i have no idea what the
reason could be except for the freezing tempuratures.
Any tips anyone? thanks

Device specs often list different temperature ranges for storage and
for operation. I had always assumed that storage wasn't that important.
Maybe I was wrong, and maybe your device went below the allowed range.

Thinking about it, I'd guess that if it got cold enough, the battery
could literally freeze and thus be ruined. Maybe electrolytic
capacitors too.

I'm just guessing, so maybe someone here who knows will post real info.

Doesnt happen with Lithium Ion batterys.

Doesnt happen with those either.

Thats obvious.

Wouldnt dream of it.
