Well, I have changed from Navman to Tomtom and regret it so far. I have an
XL IQ (Routes edition / 340 aka XL 340

The problem I have is it shows a speed that is consistently 5km slower than
I am actually travelling. I'm sure my speedo is correct because I have
cruise control on my car and when set at a specific speed it is the same as
other traffic travelling at that speed.

The other more serious problem is that I am past the turnoffs by about
100-200 metres by the time it says to turn. Is there any way to fix these
problems or have I just bought a lemon?

Thanks folks

Your basis for judging which speed display is wrong is misguided. All car
speedos read high while GPS is very accurate. I suggest you happily and
safely cruise control along at the speed of the prevailing traffic and not
fret that you could be going even a bit faster without getting a ticket.

Do your roads have kilometer markers set at known distances? If they do you
could always Clock your speed, set your speed @ 60 km - travel 60 km - see
if it takes 60 seconds or 1 minute to accomplish this distance.

G'day Rod--you sure get around the newsgroups!! Yes, it is a pain in the
ass the whole thing. Wish I had bought a new Navman because I doubt there
is going to be a solution to either problem. I guess I'm part of the adage
that says there's a sucker born every minute. I account for one of those
minutes back in 1945.
