Tomtom One is Trash

I bought a Tomtom One a few months ago. I hate it. It's trash.
Unfortunately the store will not take it back. Lets put it like this:
If I wanted some thing to annoy and irritate me, I would have gotten
married. But this GPS is worse than the most annoying wife. I refuse
to even use it once again, it's going on ebay or something just so I
can get rid of it.

I was going on a trip and wanted to map out the trip. While still in
my own city, I was on a major highway heading toward another major
highway. I know how to travel down to the main intersection for these
two highways. However, the Tomtom insisted that I take a side street
(where I'll have to stop for a stop sign every block). I continued
down the main road and the damn GPS told me to "turn right" at EVERY
side street, until I got so sick of hearing it that I shut it off. I
have it set for the "Fastest" route, but there are no settings to tell
it to avoid side streets, nor any quick button or switch to disable
the sound.

What a waste of $100 buying this piece of junk.

to quickly change the sound volume on my Go 700, tap the bottom left side of
the screen. First tap shows the volume control bar. Tapping the left side of
the bar will effectively mute the beast. I think this is the same for the
entire product line.

Agreed that the unit has some 'quirks' but I generally like mine and it's
usually more effective at giving directions than having my wife looking at a
map and calling out instructions (at least the tomtom won't get carsick
while doing this). Before you do decide to get rid of the unit, let me
recommend that you do a couple of things.
Connect the unit to your computer. This requires TomTom Home (free program).
Once connected, check for updates - particularly for operating system.
Go to the settings menu and 'restore factory settings'. Not sure if this
option shows on the default menu. One of the settings menu items is 'show
more options' or something like that. Choose the more items menu.

Oppie, why let a TTOne upset you? I do have a TTOne v3 and for experimenting
purposes I took it w/me to the bakery 1.5 miles away after going in set TT
to home and it gave me a route I did not want or I never go that away.
Now you could have done one thing which was clear the route then restarted
again from that point.
I have had my TTOne v3 for over 3 years and use it allot in the US I even
took it to Europe and worked fine, there since I did not know if it was
shorter one way or another I just followed and got me where I wanted to go..

Does a person have to connect these GPSs to a computer to reset them
to factory settings? I'd like to reset mine because I want to sell
it. I want to remove all the settings, especially my home info. I
did not know there was a way to clear it. I was going to change my
home settings to someplace like a park or place where there are no
homes. My computer is old and unlikely able to connect the TT. Maybe
I should ask how to connect it to any computer. I dont see any place
to connect a cord on the GPS.

I thought that totally draining the battery would set it to factory
settings. I unplugged it from the car and left it turned on for
several days. It drained the battery but did not reset.

No you do not have to hook it up to a PC to reset
Go to Menu and usually depending which Navcore you have the reset icon shows
up in the end of the menu
