I have a TT 125 and a third edition. They are stored in plastic boxes
when not being used. The third edition was in the back of my truck and
not used for several days. My wife was driving the truck and after
several miles, from the crew cab, she heard turn left, turn right, etc.
If the unit hadn't been turned off when it was put away, wouldn't the
battery be discharged in several days?

The same thing happened to the 125 except it was put on a shelf for a
week. While I was in the closet I noticed the screen was glowing.

Any idea what could be turning the units on?
