I have a recon XL IQ Routes Edition, recently purchased from the TomTom web
site.

I wonder if any one else has the same sort of problem that I have with this
device.

When setting an itinerary, with say 4 waypoints, when the route is
calculated, the map shows all the waypoints in their correct places, but the
route does not pass through all of them, usually at least one falls outside
the route, and it can be by a small or large distance, I have seen up to 50
km.

Also, on some occasions, after calculating the route, instead of a map I get
a message 'unable to find alternative for xxxx' where xxxx is a particular
location on the itinerary list, and no route is calculated or available.

I have raised a fault strand with TomTom, and they advised deleting and
reloading the Apps for this device from their web site, but it hasn't made
any difference.

Is this a known problem, or do I have to get my money back and try another
manufacturer?

After my one v1 I also purchased a one IQ Routes with TMC. And as I also
like to plan my itineraries I like to play with it before the holidays.

Yes... and I reported it to TomTom support.

This is a bug I also have and known by TomTom now... however no idea
when it will be fixed ;-(

This sometimes happens. I think that it is related to the itinerary
problem...

I just hope that TomTom staff will be reactive (as Dutch people are
generally). Otherwise they sure will loose all the market very quickly.
As I liked very much my old one, I continue to believe in TomTom.

Many thanks J-@-ck,

That has at least reassured me that I do not have a one off faulty TT.

On the other hand, I am not sure how long I should give TomTom to rectify
the problem.

I do not consider my current XL IQ Routes Edition to be fit for purpose in
its current state.

Regards

Try converting the waypoints to stops and see what happens.

Then this will no longer be 'waypoints' but a multiple destinations
itinerary ;-(

How can you know the time to destination (the final one ? which is
also the goal preparing itineraries ? For my holidays in June I had
to manually add the different segments... to know that.

Moreover I also want sometimes to drive through nice landscape and
avoid some highways on a particular segment of my itinerary. This
is possible adding intermediate 'waypoints'.
