Unless I'm missing something, POIEdit will OPEN mapsettings.cfg, but
will not SAVE a .cfg file - ie you cannot edit the mapsettings.cfg,
only read it.

I believe that's right, .cfg is one of the source file formats but it is not
one of the destination file formats so you could use this to bring all your
Favourites into one POI file with just one click but you would then need to
go through them and manually add each of them to the Favourites of the second
device.

Else just copy the MapSettings.cfg file, but I advise you keep a backup of
the original file of the target device just in case something in the foreign
.cfg from of the donor device upsets it on account of difference in hardware
or in the application software etc.

I use Favourites as very temporary storage so would never have more than half
a dozen at one time, just for use in one particular trip, and they would be
deleted after the trip. If any have a longer useful life then they would be
stored into POI files and not left in Favourites. But that's just my custom.

I keep clear of Favorites (in mapsettings.cfg) and stuff my favourites in a
POI group I call Favourites - easier to manipulate/copy/share.
