Go 700 battery replacement?

Battery in my Go 700 is now totally dead.
Are there any DIY guides to battery replacement? Things to watch out for and
anything that should also be done while the case is open?

I got a replacement battery from www.batterymill.com , no connection to me.
The website also offered a free toolkit which came in handy for the small
screws that hold the TomTom together. I did find a website with
instruction on how to replace the battery,

but all the photographs were gone. It was fairly straightforward if a bit
fiddly as the battery lies deep within the unit. There is also a fair bit
of self adhesive metallic film, I presume to act as a shielding, which ended
up slightly torn but need to be removed to locate some of the screws. I
ended up sticking this film back down as best I could. The TomTom has since
been passed on to a friend but he has reported no problems whatsoever with
it.

Thanks for the input. I wound up getting a radio shack battery shipped to
me. This was offered web-only and not in stores. Free ground shipping
though. Total cost was about $28 with tax. (Radio shack #55026651)

Getting the Go710 apart was a bit of a challenge. I have some Torx drivers
but they didn't exactly fit. Did manage to get it apart though without
damaging anything. The adhesive backed foil got badly torn. This IS
shielding that is supposed to keep interference generated by the
microcomputer and display (not to mention ignition noise) from affecting the
GPS receiver. It was pretty well torn up while trying to remove it. There is
a layer of black film between the circuit board and foil to keep the foil
from shorting the board components. The black film could be a ferrite emi
absorber but I'm not sure. I'll replace the shielding with a layer of mylar
tape and then aluminum duct sealing tape. I have copper foil tape here
somewhere which is better since you can solder the joints for better
continuity. The adhesive is usually non-conductive (though conductive
adhesive is available).
Part of my day job as an electrical engineer is dealing with issues of
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), so this stuff comes naturally to me...

This last link has a battery replacement link as well as a note on how to
replace the original 2.5GB Seagate micro drive with a compact flash card.
When the Go710 mentioned a 'hard drive', I thought it was a solid state
drive. Changing to a Compact Flash card does make sense. Much more durable.

The tiny torx screws are a pain if you don't have the correct tool. When you
manage to get them out, replace with similarly sized slotted screw. Better
yet, if you have a dremel tool, use the cut-off wheel to cut a slot in the
top of the screw head so that a plain flat blade screwdriver will fit it.
Hold the screw in a collet type pin vise mounted in a standard vise. The
collet won't muck up the screw threads and holds the tiny screws firmly so
you can make a good slot.
