Has anyone had any instances of the above unit (or any I guess) spelling out
"NATIONAL" and other words I can't remember?
I contacted TT about this and wasn't given much of a reply other than "we're
looking into it". That was at least one map version ago ...
Cheers,
Cam

I have a 930 .. never seen that on mine. I would suggest checking that
the 'voice' & settings are pertinent to the country you're in
I dislike this feature also. The other word spelled out is "STATE" which is
used on the on/off ramps to the NATIONAL freeway.

Yup - same here. Lots of examples. If the map shows "FWY", one would
think that it is a common enough abbreviation for "Freeway" that the 930
should know it. But no - it spells it out - rapidly - as "Eff DoubleU
Why"
As I mentioned, there are numerous abbreviations and words it doesn't
seem to know, so spells them out. Some are peculiar to here in
Australia, such as "NatRoad" which we have here in Brisbane. Others,
such as "FWY", "Avenue", "Crescent" and many others, all get spelled out
at rapid-fire speed.
And, like you, an email was replied to with a generic "Tom Tom
constantly updates its software" email.
