It is like asking for free car servicing for life after you purchased a car.
There must be a cost associated with producing these maps. I personally
think that they should give us free map updates for the duration of the
warranty but it is not reasonable to expect to get free updates for life

Nope, nothing like.

There is no marginal cost whatever when updated
maps have to be done for the new GPSs they sell.

a lot better than that, like 3 times the warranty.

Its completely mad to be charging much more for updated
maps than a new GPS which has the same map.

It's all done for "Marketing Reasons" - think ink-jet cartridges.

Its nothing like those when you can get updated maps for free with GPSs.

Bit is that true? Can you really buy a new GPS will all the features and
the map you want for less than the update price of that same map? Please
enumerate for the new GPS and the map update you have in mind.
