Not sure if this is the correct group. I am looking for clear satellite
images of earth - in particular Ireland. I know of Google Earth and NASA
Worldwind, but the image quality of the area I want from both of those
services are not very good - and one know any others, I don't mind paying a
reasonable amount

The Microsoft one (name of which currently escapes me) has much better /
more recent satellite photos of the UK .. not sure whether that extends
to Ireland too. Google will find it for you 9and it was free last time I
tried).

Google may be your friend, but groups.google.com posters definitely aren't.

Nope, that's old technology. The new one is
http://local.live.com/

Which I eventually found in the back of my bookmarks collection. You
need to ask for satellite images IIRC< but once you get them they are
superb (10x better than Google Earth or Worldwind), at least for my
location.

Hi

Thanks for the info but the image on line is exacctly te same as WorldWind.

You said In you posting "you have to ask for satellite images IIRC..." What
do you mean by that and if you do ask, do you get better resolutions? As the
on site image is not very clear and covers approx 10km (search Loughglynn in
Rep of Ireland - I want the area 1 mile north between Loughglyn and Moyne
clear enough to pinpoint houses / outbuildings

Thanx

Ron
