Zumo problem with overseas maps and 4GB cards

The zumo 550 is an Australian model with City Navigator Europe DVD
loaded to a 4 GB SD card (Sandisk regular speed). It has firmware
version 3.30

The European maps display on the screen normally and Map Info shows
them.

When you try to search on address or city it should first ask you for
the country (as you have more than one country loaded). It does not,
only the state. It will only accept Australian states.
If you delete the Australian maps from the internal memory it still
does not ask for country, only states and will still only accept
Australian states.

Part of the CNE maps were loaded to a 256 MB SD card and the unit
would search them fine. We believe that you could load up to a 2 GB
card without problems.

CNE NT preloaded cards work fine.

We believe this is a problem with the zumo reading FAT32 formated
cards (required on bigger than 2GB cards). This problem may also
effect nuvis.

It has been reported to Garmin with we are awaiting a response
If you have also had this problem, perhaps with other models or maps
then please report it. The more reports Garmin receives the sooner
they will fix it.

I don't have a zumo. Does it have a map setup or map info page or menu
where it displays all the maps loaded? If so, and there is more than
one map listed, are there check boxes for turning maps on and off?

Even though you can turn all maps on, it is normal for only one to be
seen and I think that one is also is the only one that will be searched.

The maps have a hierarchy that is not published by Garmin. Normally
City Navigator will be first priority for display but I don't know how
it handles multiple instances of City Navigator maps.

So if there is a list with check boxes, you might try unchecking all but
the map you want to search and see if that changes the behavior.

Yes, both maps display and are ticked on the map info page

Deleting the Australian map does not make the search work on the
European map

The maps cover different areas (Australia and Europe) so the hierarchy
does not apply

Unticking a mapset or deleting it does not change the behaviour.
