Hello,
I have problem with Estonian text of my Nuvi 760 - too many mistakes.
Is it possible to fix the text files opening them and changing
incorrect words with the correct ones?
Regards,
Vello

it is possible to modify the Zumo 550 files, so maybe your device can be
optimized as well?
Do you have direct access to your device - via a USB cable, for example?
If so, does your Nuvi have a sub folder "text"?
If so, are there files with the extension "gtt" in this folder?
You notice that I describe the Zumo 550 configuration, and if we're
lucky, the Nuvi may be similar.

thank you for so rapid reply :-)
I think z=FCmo-nuvi must be pretty the same (exept Z=FCmo's weathertight
body). I do have access via USB and yes there are subfolder Text.
Inside this subfolder there are files Estonian.gtt and
Estonian.Trf.gtt. But I have no idea a) what thing will open .gtt
files b) is there some dangers when modifying the files?

a) If they are actually text files, you can open them in any text editor,
including NotePad. In the file-open dialog, you will need to choose "All
files (*.*)" as the file type in order to see the .gtt files.
b) Save a backup copy before doing anything. I am not further qualified to
answer that question :-)

Hi Vello,
OK, since we have clarified the basic conditions, now let's start work
:-)
1. As Gene has already pointed out to you, back up the Nuvi files before
you modify them (i.e. copy & paste).
2. What you want to do is create an "additional" gtt file. The following
hints describe the way for the Zumo 550, so please don't be mad at me if
it doesn't work for the Nuvi. :-)
One more piece of advice: work on the files on your harddisk, not on the
Nuvi drive.
Open "Estonian.gtt" in the Windows editor Notepad (important) and start
a search for the wrong translations. Mark them and copy them to the
clipboard, for example:
<str>
<tag>TXT_Coordinates_STR_M</tag>
<txt>Koordinaten</txt>
</str>
<tag>TXT_Coordinates_STR_M</tag>
<txt>Koordinaten</txt>
</str>
3. Open a second instance of Notepad and paste the wrong data into this
file. Save (not "save as") this file "Estonian_user.gtt". Do not modify
or save the data in"Estonian.gtt" on the Nuvi drive, please, leave this
file unaltered.
4. Now correct the wrong entries/mistakes and finally copy this
additional file "Estonian_user.gtt" into the Nuvi's "Text" folder.
Good luck!
Mike
