Hello,

I have a Garmin iQue M5 PDA/GPS unit. I was wondering if anyone had
been able to rig up a solar panel to recharge the battery on such a
unit. I would like to rig up something to recharge the unit while
camping.

The wall charger has an output of 5V, 1.6A, 8W. I guess I would
either have to find a way to convert the solar panel output to this or
have a charger that puts out house current and use the wall unit as
it.

Anybody got any ideas?

Bart

I use a auto charger adapter and a 5 watt 12volt solar panel

You can use 15Ah 6v gell battery fused by 2Amp fuse through a 2 amp rated
silicone diode.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think due to me lack of great
electronic skills, the 12V automobile charger route will be the best.
I should be able to plug together compatible components without fancy
engineering.
