Problems with GPS Ground Control Software Update: AEP 5.5C
http://www.questexenews.com/t.do?id=4247687:20351432
The GPS Wing and 2SOPS (2nd Space Operations Squadron) initiated a
software update of the ground command and control (C2) system for GPS on
January 11, 2010. The update has not gone as smoothly as planned, and
the second of two NANUs has now appeared. More...

New Details of 24+3 GPS Configuration Released
http://www.questexenews.com/t.do?id=4247690:20351432
The US Air Force has released more details surrounding the new 24+3 GPS
configuration. More...
The first update said, if I understand this correctly, that the
upgrade caused some older civilian receivers to have problems.
The second update said that the AF is notifying military users to
report any problems suspected with the military receivers.
My prior comments still stand; Hypothetically speaking, a 6-bit field
treated as 8-bits by receivers where the high order bits are no longer
zero. Welcome to the world of legacy software maintenance. The wing
may not have done anything wrong (except to under test the release).
But the easiest fix may be for the wing to authorize Aerospace and
Boeing to change the upload ICD to accommodate actual usage. Look for
an AEP 5.5D.
