I am finding it impossible to transfer POI files to my new Garmin
Legend Cx.

I can make .gpx files using Mapsource TOPO or I can make .csv files
using notepad.

POI Loader says that it succesfully transferred the correct number of
objects to the GPS but when I look for them they are not there. The
same thing happens with POIs that I download from the web.

Is it possible to use POI Loader and POIs with a Garmin Legend Cx?

Has anyone managed to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, it looks like they are indeed being transferred but not displayed
correctly. I didn't see them because they have the wrong symbol which
makes them look like another map feature. regardless of the symbol
they are created with in Mapsource, they appear as a small grey
circle.

They are not searchable by name. Or by proximity. And hovering the
pointer does not highlight them like a waypoint or other object.

'Display Map Points' is set to on and I've tried several levels of
zoom visibility including auto.

I hate to say it because I could well be wrong, but this is starting
to look like a software problem with the Legend Cx.

Has anyone actually got this to work?

PS using V2.60 on GPS

In my Vista Cx the circle only appears at 80m zoom. Further out, I can't see
them.

Mine are, but a special new category in the search, not the usual POI
search.

Mine is the same, no hover/select behaviour.

If I zoom massively in to the objects (80m), they are then visible on the
map interface, but this is too close to be much use.

I had a look at the POI file on the GPS memory card, but its not a text
format, and I've not got time to find and fiddle with something which may be
able to read the binary format. I wonder if the type given to the POI is
one which is too low level to display on the screen ?

I also suspect bug in system software.

Nigel,

The behaviour of the Vista sounds identical to the Legend. Not too
surprising as they are very similar units.

You mention that when you transfer POIs they are in a special new
category. What category is it and how do you see it? I get no clue
that they have been transferred except for the grey circle.

Are POIs usable in the special category?

Could this be a way to use them?
