Friends -
I would like to ask for your recommendations on a gps that can be used for
automobile (mostly) and fishing/hiking (say 25%). There are many choices out
there and I need guidance in narrowing down to a manageable number of
candidate units.
After reading the postings it appears that the contributors to this list are
about the best informed gps owners around. Thanks in advance for you help
and considered suggestions.

It's a common topic. Try searching the last few months' postings
here for many opinions and the frequent pointer to
http://gpsinformation.net/ , where the lead articles are "My First
GPS for Hiking: What features does it need?" and "My First GPS for
Automobile Navigation -What features does it need?"
There you will also find reviews and specifications of most consumer
receivers and links to much, much more.
