Has anybody moved from using a Garmin Streetpilot to a Nuvi? If so, did
you miss anything from the Streetpilot?
Thinking about getting the Nuvi 660 to replace my 2610. Only real
downside I see from an SP-user's perspective is that there's no remote
for the Nuvi.

I don't have either but I know that the Nuvi does not do multiple

Send me an email if you'd like to talk about selling the 2610.

That's no biggie for me really -- I think I've used that all of one
time. I'm more worried about those who've gotten accustomed to the
remote having to now stretch and reach for the unit's screen hanging off
the windshield. (Although I must say that sometimes the remote can be a
pain too. :)

Will do once (if!) I get the new one. I do like the 2610, just would
like a bigger screen, built-in traffic alerts, Bluetooth, etc.
One thing, though ... I wouldn't want to give up Mapsource + CityNav8 on
my PC, so I suppose that would mean selling just the unit with all the
maps loaded on the 2GB CF, right? Is that legal? Though I guess that
would mean that if the buyer trashed the CF, he'd have to go and buy a
new CityNav DVD... (Just noodling here -- I don't quite get the
ramifications of selling without the PC software and all the unlock code
stuff.)

You can give the maps and unlock certificate to the buyer, but you
should delete Mapsource from your PC ofcourse. =8-)
Not that CityNav will bring you anything on the Nuvi... no route
planning at all possible from Mapsource (only waypoint management).

If you have already unlocked CN8 to the 2610 and leave the maps on it,
it would let the new owner user them. It would be one of your two
unlocks for CN8, you would have one remaining should you want to use it
later. I have no idea how Garmin view the legal issue on you doing
that. If they should ask, it is okay with me. :>)
In theory, with City Navigator NT preloaded to the Nuvi 350, you won't
need to upload any maps ever. It has no other MapSource compatibility
(marine, topo, etc.) so there is nothing to be added it.
You could use the second unlock for another Garmin should you get
another. Once you have used an unlock there is no way to "recover" it
as far as I know.
As far as I know, you won't get the MapSource software with the Nuvi 350
because CN NT is pre loaded. You have to have some MapSource
application that can be installed on a PC to get and use MapSource. So
keeping your CN8 DVD will allow you to keep MapSource installed on your
PC and do your planning there. I'm assuming that waypoints and routes
can be uploaded to the Nuvi from that MapSource install on the PC.

Yep, I think you are right. Most people would expect to buy a CN 8 (or
something) if it did not come with the 2610. If it came with an older
application and you still have that, you could let them have that and
upgrade if they want.
