Hi,
Any recommendations for the best (cheapest) place to get 1:100,000 or better
digital topographical maps for SE QLD & Northern NSW. I assume that there is
vector mapping available and that the best that I could get is a electronic
copy of a raster map.
Any assistance will be appreciated.
Sean
Are you looking for vector or rastor mapping ?
If vector then what brand of GPS do you propose to load it to ?

Hi,
Oops, a typo, I meant "I assume that there is no Vector mapping" and am
looking for raster maps.
The only topo vector mapping I am aware of is the 1:250 000, but this is
difficult, if not impossible to get into your GPS (I have been using GPS
MapEdit but it seems to struggle on some of the layers that I have tried to
use to build maps. They seem to import OK but then the map is empty when
loaded into Mapsourse). As you can guess I have a Garmin. If there is any
other topo vector mapping for Australia I would be interested to know about
it. I have the Metroguide Australia street maps but that is not topo
mapping.
At this point I am looking for raster maps to load into OziExplorer to plan
my routes. I have taken to creating a "track" in OziExplorer marking the
location of all the roads and tracks in the area I am planning to go to and
uploading it into my GPS so that I can have lines overlaying the street maps
showing where the trails are. I have been using the 1:250K Natmaps but they
are not detailed enough.

Depending on where you're after try www.gpsaustralia.net
They have free 1:25k 1:100k for NSW and coverage for Vic and Tas
possibly part of Qld as well.
