I have a laptop that gets my location from the USB GPS..
The laptop is on high speed internet at all times using SPRINT.
It seems there MUST be software that would transmit simple coordinates
to the net.
I have searched high and low. I run pure Microsoft and can run any
type of server at home, to facilitate this technology. I can run a web
server, FTP server, anything!
I have Street Atlas 2008 and Microsoft Street and Trips 2008 and cant
find that feature. someone said xmap but its $1000 and I have no need
for an extra device.
I want some map at home to show my location, and updated every 15
minutes.
it seems so simple, data in, data out! wtf!!!
It is pretty simple if you can do a little programming:
1. request a Google Map API key from Google
2. have the laptop save the data out in a readable format to a file
3. write a program to scan the saved data every x minutes
4. the program creates an html web page with the coord., time data
5. auto-run a script every 15 minutes that FTPs the web page to your ISP
6. the web page displays your data on a Google Map
For more info, search Google for: Google maps API

It seems like this SHOULD EXIST ALREADY
and it would use very little bandwidth
but still, thank you, and if I can afford to, I'll find a programmer
to write this for me.
I dont use google software, so I'll probably try to do it in a
Microsoft format, but thank you!!
GPRS
Ham Radio operators have been sending GPS location data over
radio/internet for years.

I didnt see any mention of Windows in the wikipedia article.
tracking the world had one windows screen, but it looked like you had
to buy a device.
I have a windows XP laptop that gets my location from the USB GPS..
( I can install Vista, if it will help)
The laptop is on high speed internet at all times using SPRINT.
Thanks
