How to make a Garmin GPS FIT the route to the screen

Since it's such a basal need, there *must* be a way to make the Garmin nuvi
just fit the route to the screen? But how?

Almost every CAD program that ever existed has a FIT function which fits
the selected set to the screen because that's one of the most common user
operations.

Same thing with GPS.

I can pseudo fit the route to the nuvi screen if I judiciously hit the plus
and minus buttons and move the map about - but that's not what a FIT is all
about.

Pray tell, WHERE is the button that simply tells a Garmin nuvi to fit the
entire route to the screen?

Good question that. I am trying to fathom it myself.

You can tap the green bar at top of screen and get a listing of road(s) to
be taken to reach destination. There are scroll arrows at bottom.

Question, on long trips, is it really useful to see the whole route?

Thanks for the reply. On my old Navman, I could get the whole route on
screen, albeit, small.

the start of a trip, and then, as I get closer and closer to my
destination, the route fit-to-screen should fit from my current location to
the destination.

The ability to fit route is a basal need that all GPS displays should do. I
just can't figure out how to fit route on the nuvi.

Am I the only one who uses GPS to LEARN more about the areas I'm traversing
- or does everyone just use GPS brainlessly to just get where they're
going?
