The problem I face is that route points on my GPSmap 60(cs) all show up with
name labels, which clutters the screen tremendously. I can't figure out how
to turn this off.

I'll explain how I go about getting a route in the 60cs. I first create a
bike route in mapsource by using the route tool and just clicking along
streets and where I know bike paths to run. At this time the software picks
names (either nrs or names according to the mapsource settings) for the
points that make up the route. The names do not show up on screen unless I
move the cursor over a point. Next, I transfer the route to the 60cs. When I
select the route in the gps and have it show it on the map, the name labels
appear. If I load the route back to mapsource the names do show on screen
and I can't get rid of them anymore there either.

Can anyone tell me how prevent the route point name labels from showing up
on the 60cs?

Many thanks,

Bob

If you go to map screen, menu, map setup, third item across (looks like
a flag) and set user waypoints to 'off' (scroll UP from 'auto') does
that solve the problem? It will probably make your other waypoints
vanish too though.

Thanks, just did this, sadly no change. Persistent bunch of points they are.
Though incidentally I'd like to keep the points and route, just want to lose
the labels that prevent me from actually seeing the roads in the map screen.

I give up then. Actually I generally use something other than Mapsource
to transfer waypoints and routes to the GPS, so my route waypoints tend
to be <letter><4 digits>, which isn't a big annoyance on the screen
unless you are zoomed way out (which I guess you would be for use in a
car). For walking/trekking I'm usually zoomed in to 120m or closer, so
there are not a lot of WPs showing on the screen at any one time.

My 60C has that same problem. I have talked to tech Support about it.
One of the techs tried 3 different units while I was on the phone with
him, and they turned off on all 3 of his 60CS's. It really clutters up a
route. So far it remains a mystery why I can't turn them off on mine.
Even stranger, mine will turn off in City Navigator, but will not turn
off in BlueChart.
