When I finish a track I save it. Then I download it into the MapSource
and export it as a gpx file. Usual method. Recently I learnt that it
doesn't save the time stamps. What do I wrong?
Thank you.

If you are using a Garmin GPS, saving the tracks erases all the time
stamps. Don't save it, and download the TRACKLOG directly.

Further, if you have one of the newer Garmin's with removable memory cards
(eg. Vista Cx), one can set the device to just record the current track
directly to the SD card as a GPX file.

I have eTrex Vista HCx with a memory card. Thanx for the suggestions.
I didn't know this! And yes, you're right - I exported a .gpx file
containing saved tracklog + active log. The part "active log"
contained full time stamps. Better to save all day activity on a card
or process active log in the evening and cut it into partcular
activities.

Thanx.
Palo.

As Reuben noted, eliminate the "Save" process.

When you "Save" a tracklog in a Garmin GPSR, it reduces the log to 500
or fewer data points and removes the time stamps. If you eliminate the
"Save" step, and perform a download (Transfer/Receive From Device) to
Mapsource, you will get the entire tracklog just as recorded - including
the time stamps.
