Just to show what the track log looks like I have used the map from that
May 30th race and loaded the raw track log on top of it (as a thinner
pure red line).

It should be obvious that even without the usual correction provided by
each of the controls, the raw track log provides a pretty good
approximation of the path I took through the forest:

You didn't run the forest - you ran the trails! Must have you over for
a rogaine. You're probably so lean that the bears won't bite.

No, I ran the course in the optimal manner, which means running on
trails when that is faster than the straight line through the forest.

I don't know about that, I'm actually 171 cm/59kg (or 5'7/130 lb). This
is in the normal to low end of the WHO recommended BMI range, and pretty
standard for long-distance runners.

Oh, _that_. Sorry, I thought that was a road and part of the map. On
closer inspection that doesn't make sense, of course, but I wasn't
thinking along the lines of whether the map made sense while looking
for your track. I just assumed it did, until the opposite became
blindingly obvious.

I do now, but it's so pale as to challenge my eyes. Maybe you need a
bolder/higher contrast line. Or at least I do.
