Does somebody know a source for Garmin manuals in German (Etrex, Etrex
Vista, Garmin 12XL) and maybe for future reference also for some of the
newer units.
Thanks for you help, Herb

12XL is pretty old now. But have you tried Garmin Europe? *Is* there a
Garmin Europe??

I don't know if this is really helpful, but:

I have had problems with their GPS unit recently.

Many people have told me (and I can plainly see) that their ability
to make a good manual is not that good, so I am wondering if it is
really worth you chasing getting one in German anyway?

Garmin manuals in German language are provided by Garmin Deutschland
GmbH in Graefelfing (near Munich) only which is *not* a subsidiary of
the manufacturer Garmin. They translate English manuals at their own
costs and therefore do not offer them for public download.

And, since they are translations, they are not worth any cent over the
Garmin manual. Manuals often describe the status with the first
firmware of the unit, but with the many updates, the unit changes, but
the manual doesn't.

Go to a good web site and read that. They go through all the menus on
the Garmin and see whats in. I suggest to start with the best German
site: http://kanadier.gps-info.de/a-gpsseite.htm
