Garmin feature question

I've used and liked my 2610 for years, but I'm looking for something a
little more compact -- or at least with self contained speaker and battery.

But there is one feature of the 2610 I really like -- the fact that it
turns on and off with the cigarette lighter, and when it turns on, it just
goes into map display mode without any user input.

The i3 I bought for my wife turns on and off with the ignition, but just
sits there at 'where to'/'map' [usually till my wife pulls back home into
the driveway]. This is like a car radio that turns on with the ignition
but just sits there glowing at you asking what station you want to hear.
Even my DVD player remembers what it was doing when I turned it off...

Anyway, is there any current Garmin that powers up with the ignition and
just 'starts' like the 2610?

I have a Garmin 3240 and it is self contained speaker and battery, but
also requires one to select map or whereto when powered on. It does
require only one selection of the touch screen of map to continue.

It is not touch screen, but it is autorouting. The speaker
is on the 12 volt power cord. When you turn the key on and
supply power the unit turns on (or go to battery charge
mode). When you turn the key off, you have a choice of stay
on or turn off. If you chose turn off, you have a 30 second
time to press a key to then stay on. Both are choices on
the setup page.

On turn on you get the 276C Logo screen. After a little bit
(or the press of the enter key) it goes away and you get the
disclaimer screen. After the unit counts the maps on the
card you get an I Agree button. You can press it and it
goes to the satellite acquisition screen(or it will go on
its' on in about 30 seconds). Unless you then press a
button or the unit was shut off from a screen other than the
map display screen when the unit gets a fix it will go to
the Map Display screen.

The reason I say you might not like the unit is your
experience seems to be with the Street Pilot series. The
276C is a dual purpose unit and at least half of the items
that come with it are for Marine use (it is listed as a
Marine Chart Plotter on Garmin's web site). To use it in
the vehicle requires the purchase of the AutoNav Kit. If
this does not discourage you, I love mine so far.

Thanks -- but the main reason I'm looking for anything beyond a 2610 is to
have an internal speaker and battery.
