For several months I have ignored the warning on my Garmin Nuvi
telling me that I need to update the maps.
Need to update now.
I went to the Garmin website, discovered that I could download the
update, then found that it would take an hour to download and another
20-40 minutes to extract the file.
So -- think I'll buy the update DVD, however, the directions for the
DVD say "Internet access is required." Does this mean if I update
from the DVD I'll still have to sit around for god-only-knows how long
while the update runs -- or -- is the Internet access only for
registration and unlocking?
Thanks.

I don't know, but what's the big deal about a 2 hour DL and load cycle.
There are other things you can do while that goes on.
