I have Garmin Europe City Select V4 and see that I can buy the upgrade to
version 7 off ebay at a reasonable price. Would I be able to upgrade to
version 7 from version 4 or do I need to install upgrades 5 and 6 for it to
work?
Cheers, Dave.
I'm not sure what they are selling on eBay as the Garmin Europe City
Select version 7 upgrade. When I phoned Garmin in the UK they send me
the Garmin Europe City Select version 7 upgrade CDs for free; I had to
pay the $100 for the upgrade key though via their website and I believe
that this key is linked to your GPS so you'll have to order it for
yourself.
I might be mistaken, but maybe somebody is trying to sell something
Garmin sends out for free?

I believe that they are only free if you have recently purchased an

appropriate Garmin GPS where the enclosed City Select version has been
upgraded. Otherwise you pay for the unlock codes which are way over
the top price wise compared with other mapping products.
Norman
No, the CDs are free but you must apply for an unlock code; if you have
bought version 6 recently, the unlock code is free otherwise you need
to pay $100. This is decided when you apply for the unlock code via
their website. I had to do the latter as I had bought version version
6 about a year ago.
Before buying these CDs via eBay, it is certainly worth to give Garmin
a call to find out what applies for upgrading from version 4.
