In reviewing the garmin protocol documentation, I have noticed that the
list of possible waypoint symbols has grown tremendously since the days
of the GPS II+.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get those symbols in some binary
image format to be included in an application ?
(eg: displaying on computer the say icon that would appear on the GPS
for that symbol value).

You'd be surprised to see the amount of stuff you can get at

You might also want to read up the Help on MapSource to get the
specifications of the symbols.
