I just purchased v6 one month ago. I do not see any provisions for a
free or discounted update on the Garmin website. Any info?

See:
http://www.garmin.com/unlock/update.jsp

The release date of v7 is June 1, 2005. If you first unlocked v6 on or
after that date then you get a free unlock for v7.

If you unlocked it after the "release date", you are entitled to a free
update. See

The release date is listed by Garmin is June 1, here:

As you can also see on that page, if you unlocked it before June 1, you
can get the update for $75.

Thanks!

It says "When you get that Update CD, you must install it on the same
computer on which you have the previous version..."

With all this unlock code business, what happens when I get myself a
new computer? Is moving the Mapsource from the old to the new computer
going to be a big problem?

Garmin website says they won't be shipping the new CitySelect v7 CD out
until August 15th.

No, installing MapSource on a new computer isn't a problem. And you
can have it on more than one PC (I have it on both my desktop and
laptop).

Their comment above is just about the 'Update CD'. Since it's an
update, it looks for an existing installation of MapSource on that PC
and won't work if there isn't one present.
