I am no longer able to install City Select version 6 on my laptops or
desktop. When running the setup from Disc1 I get the following dialog box
message "Please start this data CD install from the Setup CD." This makes no
sense, since it is running from the Setup CD.

Can someone help me out on this? I couldn't find any cure on the Garmin
website. Am able to install other mapsource programs OK.

Thanks,
Scott Dunbar

This sounds like the version of City Select that came with a GPS18.
You need to start with the 'Setup CD for nRoute'.

No, this is the version which came with a Vista C, and did work previously.

Are you sure you didn't start from another CD the previous time?
For the iQue M5 they have the same peculiar install procedure. The City
Select Europe v7 CD's are in a separate box, but I had to start its
install from the "Companion CD for iQue M5" which is in an annoyingly
stupid way combined with the Setup Guide booklet.

Hi Scott,

I had the same problem a month ago. Here is was I had to do for my
particular installation.

1) Because I had CS 6 upgrade disks I had to first install my old CS
5.

2) Note that there is 3 CD for CS5. Yes 3! Probably the same for a
brand new CS6. Just put the one that is not in the plastic box. This
CD is labeled as
>> North America City Select Setup CD. Install this CD first.<<

3) Then it will ask for the 2 other CS CD's.

4) Finally install your CS6 upgrade.

Hope it will get you a clue for your specific setup.
