Road trip oriented car GPSs tend to be expensive. NewEgg's 1 day sale of
the Fine Digital Hawkeye (Sale $400; List $1,100) is very tempting
(http://tinyurl.com/bsb7v ). Unfortunately, I know nothing about the
manufacturer or the unit.
Has anyone had any experience with this item?
- David D.
(P.S., No, I am not affiliated with either NewEgg or Fine Digital. This is
not an ad or an endorsement, just a quest for information).
I just checked the ad again. It's $340, not $400.

seems like a very good deal for something that is often priced in the 400's
and sometimes above that (do a froogle search for "fine digital hawkeye")
amazon gives the description below for the item, and there is 1 customer
feedback about the product 5 *'s out of 5.
no idea what they mean by "Award-winning software by Ostia" will have to
take their word for it I guess.

Thanks for your feedback. From what we know so far, it sounds like a
worthwhile unit. It wasn't clear from the specs whether or not it had a
separate antenna on a cable, or whether or not it had 12 channels (although
I suspect that it does from its fast satellite acquisition time).
I actually blew the sale window through indecision. By the next time I see
a deal like that, I will have completed my research and made a decision.

Stilllseems on sale. I have a SP3 so I will stick with SP 2610 for my
upgrade, but if I did not, I might try this unit.
